WHAT:   K and 1st students take part in a celebratory ribbon-cutting marking the opening of new Sunshine playground equipment (the result of a year-long study of playground design prompted by current 1st grade students)

WHY:  Following a student-led inquiry; fostering curiosity, real-world problem solving and initiative; integrating student interests into core curricular areas; providing early experiences with design-thinking, engineering, iteration and presentation skills
